Back For Our 27th Year! Tickets Now On Sale!

The Alex Film Society is back once again with the 27th Annual Three Stooges Big Screen Event!presented in association with C3 Entertainment, Inc. This year the theme is “Spies, Disguises and Badges” and promises laff-a-minute adventures with Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp as they seek clues and stymie bad guys during the Civil War, in the Old West, searching Egyptian tombs, as police officers, private eyes, even hired guards protecting a secret weapon! As a bonus, we’re screening a special, rarely seen interview with Larry Fine talking about his life and career with the Stooges.  So come out to experience all the fun of seeing these specially selected classic comedies on the big Alex Theatre screen, as they were meant to be seen, with a large, enthusiastic crowd. Something you don’t get to experience watching them on TV!  Guaranteed to be a rollicking good time for the whole family—and to pick up your spirits!

The Program For “Spies, Disguises and Badges”

Uncivil Warriors (1935, Del Lord)

During the Civil War, the boys are Northern spies who infiltrate the home of a southern soldier. With Stooge regulars Bud Jamison and James C. Morton, often appearing in Hal Roach’s Laurel and Hardy and Our Gang shorts.

Dizzy Detectives (1943, Jules White)

The Stooges are police officers assigned to solve the Ape man burglaries. Again, with Stooge stalwart Bud Jamison and Bonzo the Gorilla playing himself.

Horses Collars (1935, Clyde Bruckman)

Detectives Moe, Larry and Curly are sent out West to retrieve a stolen deed from a desperado. Stooge stock company member Fred Kelsey appears as Detective Agency head, Hyden Zeek.

Tricky Dicks (1953, Jules White)

In a spoof of the 1951 film The Detective Story, police station detectives Moe, Larry and Shemp have twenty four hours to find the killer of Slug McGurk. And he walks right into the station. With Connie Cezan, who would later play “Gertie,” Perry Mason’s receptionist on the long running TV series.,

Spook Louder (1943, Del Lord)

Curly, Larry and Moe are door-to-door weight-reducing-machine salesmen. At a mysterious house, they are hired by a scientist to protect his new weapon from enemy spies. With Stooge regulars Symona Boniface, Ted Lorch and Stanley Byston. Plus Charles Middleton, “Ming the Merciless” of Flash Gordon fame.

We Want our Mummy (1939, Del Lord)

Private eyes Moe, Larry, and Curly are sent to Cairo to pick up the cursed remains of the mummy of “King Rootentooten.” Another classic with regulars Bud Jamison and James C. Morton, as well as Eddie Laughton as the cab driver.

Interview with Larry Fine
