MARY POPPINS on Monday, December 26th

It will definitely be a jolly holiday as the Alex Film Society presents Disney’s enduring classic Mary Poppins at Hollywood’s Legion Theater on Monday, December 26th at 2PM. Considered a motion picture technological marvel when first released in 1964 – long before the advent of digital special effects – the film was nominated for 13 Academy Awards, winning five, for Actress, Song, Musical Score, Editing and Visual Effects.

Memorable songs, which shaped the childhood of an entire generation, include A Spoonful of Sugar, Jolly Holiday, Chim Chim Cher-ee, and of course Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Presented with the Legion Theater’s state-of-the-art projection and sound, chances are that you’ll have the opportunity to experience the film as you never have before.

Location and Parking

Address: 2035 North Highland Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90068.

Limited free parking for this event is available in the lot behind the theater. Additional free parking is available across Highland Avenue from the theater in front of the Hollywood Heritage Museum – this is also known as Hollywood Bowl Lot D. Enter the lot from either Odin St. or Milner Rd. Parking is free for cars with disabled parking placards in the theater’s lot.

Public transit: Ride the Metro Red Line to the Hollywood/Highland station. From there it’s a 12 – 15 minute walk up Highland Avenue to the theater. Assume that holiday schedules will apply.
